With names like Tyler and Matthew, our crew has always found many other people with the same name as us. However, we were very curious about the question: just how many? So, like the data nerds that we are, we1 crunched some numbers. There are just under 1.5 million Matthews alive in the US right now and just under 560,000 Tylers. We thought that was pretty neat, and wanted you to be able to do the same for your name. In the interactive below, you can type in any name, select a sex2 and it will tell you about how many people with that sex are alive in the US today3. You will also see a graph that shows the number of people born with that name each year4. We hope you enjoy!

|1.||↵||To be clear, this was entirely Matthew’s making.|
|2.||↵||Unfortunately, the data is only available dependent on sex assigned at birth. The data is provided by the Social Security Administration and they only keep track of the data for sex assigned at birth.|
|3.||↵||This only takes into account the people who were born in the US, as that is what is provided by the Social Security Administration.|
|4.||↵||The Social Security Administration only provides data for a name when there are more than 5 people born with that name in a given year, in order to protect anonymity.|
